Frequently Asked Questions

Do you supply Charcoal?
No but it can be purchased on site at a cost of £5.50 per bag.
We have booked the BBQ pod what do we get?
With the BBQ booking we will supply you with a bag of charcoal that contains 2 separate easy light bags, cooking utensils, plastic cutlery and paper plates. You will need to supply all of your food and drink plus you will also need to cook your own food.
How much is the BBQ pod?
£45.00 per 4 hour private session for up to 16 people inc bag of charcoal, cooking utensils, paper plates and plastic cutlery.
When is the eco spa available?
The sauna is available 7 days a week but we only operate the hot tub on weekends and midweek sometimes In school holiday time if there is enough demand for it, please check with us for further information.
How much is the eco spa?
£65.00 per accommodation for a private 2 hour session up to a maximum of 12 people (6 in the hot tub & 6 in the sauna) Discounts are sometimes offered if there are only 2/3 people per session please email with your enquiry. *Please note Hot tub does not operate midweek off peak, only the sauna is available which costs £20.00 for a private 1.5 hour session up to 6 people max.
How far is the parking away from the accommodation?
We have parking within the Glamping area but this is strictly limited to 1 car per accommodation, additional cars have to park at the main reception car park which is located about a 10 minute walk away. For the safety of all of our guests we don’t allow cars to drive within the glamping area but provide wheel barrows to help you get your stuff about from the glamping car park, the furthest accommodation is about 5 minutes’ walk from the car park.

Can I park my car by the accommodation?
No this is not allowed, due to numerous issues with guests ignoring our speed limit of 15 mph, abandoning cars which block the lane and ignoring our rules on parking cars in the car park we have taken the decision to make the glamping area free of cars, primarily this is to ensure the safety of all our guests. Cars are only allowed as far as the glamping car park, we provide wheel barrows to help you shift your stuff to your accommodation. Check out the site map for the site layout.
What time is the café open?
The café is open 10am to 5pm 7 days a week in school holiday time and at weekends. NOTE: The Orangery Café is owned and operated by Camphill Ltd; this is a separate independent business to Camp Kátur who provide glamping accommodation.
Is there a shop onsite?
No sorry there is currently no shop onsite, the nearest place to access shops is Bedale which is 5 miles away
Do you have Wi-Fi internet access?
Yes we have free to use Wi-Fi which is available in the café area
Do you have electricity?
No we do not, we provide an off grid experience which means no electricity available in the Glamping Village, solar powered lighting is provided around the toilet/shower blocks. In the accommodation there is ambient lighting in the form of tea light lanterns for the evenings. Please note the grounds have no external lighting which is great for seeing the stars at night, but not so great for finding your way around in the dark! Head- torches, torches or battery powered lanterns are strongly recommended. Bringing a torch/lantern is advised!
Can I charge my mobile or electronic cigarettes?
No we don’t currently have any charging facilities for mobile phones or electronic cigarettes, we advise that you make suitable preparations for charging your mobile and electronic cigarettes whilst away by using a car charger or solar charger
Can we buy logs?
Yes these can be purchased at the Wardens lodge and Reception during opening hours.
Is there any security boxes?
Sorry we do not have any security lockup boxes, please make sure that anything valuable is kept securely locked in your vehicle as we cannot accept any liability should something be stolen from you whilst onsite.
Do you have personnel onsite?
Yes we have wardens which are onsite most of time, to ensure guests are looked after and the rules of the site are obeyed. Admin/maintenance staff are also available Mon-Friday during the day.
What is your policy on noise?
We always ask that guests respect fellow guests that are staying on Camp and keep noise to a level whereby you are not causing a nuisance to others and after 10pm we operate a strict low noise level policy.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes we allow guests to bring their dogs with a maximum of 2 dogs per booking, your dog/s must be kept on a lead at all times whilst on Camp and you must pick up and dispose of any dog mess. There is an additional charge to bring your dog which can be added to your booking online.
You have a communal camp fire, do you supply the wood for this?
From time to time we may put wood on the communal camp fire which guests can burn but this is not all of the time, if you wish to make use of the communal camp fire on your stay please either bring logs or purchase some logs to burn.
We have a fire basket at our accommodation do you supply wood for this?
No we do not supply wood for the fire baskets, if you wish to use your fire basket you will need to either bring logs or purchase logs when on camp.

Our Accommodation has a log burner inside do you supply wood for this?
Yes we supply 1 basket of logs and 1 box of firelighters for your arrival, when these have run out you will need to purchase more logs
Is there a BBQ and Firepit at our accommodation?
Yes all accommodation has its own BBQ and Fire basket outside, guests need to supply their own charcoal and fire wood which can be purchased onsite at the following prices: Charcoal £5.50 per bag, Logs £6.00 per bag.
What time can I Check In?
We do not allow check into accommodation until 3pm
What time do I have to check out by?
You must be out of your accommodation by 11:00am on the day of check out – Guests can stay on the Estate all day if they wish but must be out of the accommodation by 11:00am.
What happens if we are going to arrive at 5pm?
Reception opening hours are 10-5pm. All arrivals after 5pm up until midnight will be left self-check in details with a map showing you to your accommodation this will be left outside the main Orangery Reception/Cafe inside the glass menu box.
Where are the Nearest Shops to camp?
Bedale is 6 miles away and Ripon is just 7 miles away.
Are there any pubs nearby?
Yes we have two good pubs serving great food ½ mile each side of the Estate within walking distance these are: Fox and Hounds in Carthorpe and the Black Horse in Kirklington, please note they are both closed Mondays.
Do you provide Bedding & Towels?
We do not provide towels and bedding is only included in Romeo & Juliet Pod, Unidomes and Geodomes, guests will need own bedding/sleeping bags for all other accommodation. We offer the hire of Bedding and Towels at an additional cost of £10pp for bedding and £4pp for Towels which can be booked during online booking process.
Does all accommodation have its own Cooking Facilities?
No they don't, only Safari Tents and Geodomes have their own cooking facilities all other accommodation has access to the Communal Kitchen Hub which has gas cookers, hot running water, plenty of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery.
Does all accommodation have private Toilets & Showers?
No they do not, only the Safari Tents and Geodomes have own private flushing toilet and hot shower facilities. All other accommodation has the use of the central communal toilet and shower block which have flushing toilets and hot showers.
Do you allow Bookings for people less than 18 years old?
No we do not, any Persons under the age of 18 have to be accompanied by an adult who is 18 years or older.
Do you allow Group Bookings?
Yes we do but please read and understand the following requirements: Group bookings of 10 or more can reserve accommodation with a 30% deposit. Full payment is then required 6 weeks prior to arrival date. For further details of site rules please download a copy of the Terms & Conditions on our website.
Are children free or do you offer discount?
Only Children under the age of 3 years are free, most accommodation offers a Family discount rate for those with Children under the age of 16. This shows against the accommodation when booking online.
